H Logging in to Wifi hotspots
- There are two versions of Openzone access as supplied with BT Broadband
option 3 / BT Total Broadband
1) Early version is by voucher. This was a numeric id plus password and could be
used at any BTOpenzone site or any BTOpenzone partners. It was limited to 250
minutes per month.
2) Later (FON based) version uses your primary
BTBroadband email address and password and is ONLY
available at FON points and BTOpenzone sites, NOT Partners!! Openzone
sites are restricted by a fair use policy. (500 minutes?)
- Caffe Nero are Openzone sites
- Cloud are apparently BTOpenzone partners. Can anyone confirm or refute
please.
- McDonalds also allow free login by anyone and is nothing to do with BT or
Openzone. It uses the CLOUD network but log in via the McDonalds access &
save your Openzone minute allowance
- A FON point that is running on a BT Homehub has a very limited range and all
you have to locate it is the postcode. It will be very hard to find and log onto
it. My wifi will not reach to the road outside my house, never mind any of the
other houses with the same postcode. BTFON connections are free.
- You can also log into ANY wifi point that you are given the SSID and WEP/WPA
key for.
Wherever you are ALWAYS check if there is a free option as
the BTOpenzone is limited to 500 minutes
